Cute as Sheep Office Bag

Cute as Sheep Office Bag

Ok. I think I can NOW say I am ready for 2016. I am not sure why, but I have been totally overwhelmed by this Cute as Sheep Office Bag. Maybe it’s because I have wanted to quilt and not make a bag. Maybe it’s because I wanted to make a different bag (like the Sew Together Bag by SewDemented). I don’t usually sew with deadlines or stick to a schedule; 2015 was the first year that I attempted it and I still need a lot of work. My hope is that in 2016 I will master the art of planning and laying out a steady workflow to keep my blog fresh and current. My little (hoarding) secret to you is that I buy agendas. Multiple times a year . . . Always in the hope that with this new agenda I will perfect my scheduling habits.

It is true, I didn’t achieve last year’s New Year’s Resolution, to sew through the whole “Bag Making Bible” by Lisa Lam, a book that had been on my shelf for years without making one pattern out of it (and I have many more books like it). Now I have made four of its patterns and with any luck I will finish the rest of the four patterns soon. That brings me to this year’s goal. I would like to complete five of my UFO’s (unfinished projects), use more of the patterns out of the books on my shelves (like a camera bag), sew down my stash to make room for more fabric, take two classes, and improve on free motion quilting.

The following is a recap of 2015

  1. Three patterns (Vines, Garden Star, The Golden Hen)
  2. One pattern for the Moda Bake Shop (Car Trash Bag)
  3. I introduced a line of fabric I designed and printed by spoonflower
  4. Three mini quilts (Bats, Garden Star, Banner Adventure)
  5. One paper pieced Mini Quilt  (Feather)
  6. One quilt designed for Halloween
  7. Four bags designed for Halloween (More than a Bat Tote, Evening Bat Clutch, Cross Body Bag, Halloween Sewing Bag)
  8. Five quilts that I completed in 2015 (Rag Quilt, Wedding Quilt, Tractor Quilt #2, Take Flight, Moda Love)
  9. Three bags for The Bag Making Bible (Book Bag, Reversible Bag, Clutch)
  10. Two downloadable projects (Monogram Gift Tags and Mini Quilt Swap Labels)
  11. Lots of giveaways

AND, DUN. DUN. DUN.

This is a Cute as Sheep Office Bag. It’s such a cute bag. I love it. Its components are essential for this type of bag. Lam makes things like a zipper pouch, pen holder, pocket, and computer harness simple and easy to make. I think it was the amount of steps that overwhelmed me, but once I picked steps and completed them I started to make headway and then it all came together. I think the bags in the book will be getting larger and more complicated from here on, so please wish me luck because I am going to need it.
