The Busy Bees Quilt

The Busy Bees Quilt

Oh, my goodness!! You guys, guess what? I have a few projects in the pipeline and one of them has been released. It feels so good for it to be out into the world and that means that I can finally talk about it. Yippie!!! Everyone, this is my newest pattern called Busy Bees quilt which I designed for BluPrint. UPDATE- You can now get a copy of the Busy Bee Quilt pattern in my shop so click here to go to the shop). I am over the moon, or should I say over the flowers. LOL.

I have such a great appreciation of bees. To me, they are tiny giants. The fact that they are responsible for pollinating flowers and trees which makes production of food possible… Thus, allowing life to thrive. They do all of this and they also produce nature’s perfect sweetener, honey. Something that is a staple in my home. I am in total awe of them and their busy lives. And that is what this Busy Bees quilt symbolizes, my great love of nature.

BluePrint

For those of you that are not familiar with BluPrint, it is a subscription based streaming service that hosts classes for people to learn a new hobby or master their current hobby.  Its wide collection of classes are available at any time meaning you can take them at home in your PJs. Their industry leading experts will teach you anything from jewelry making to cake decorating to, yes my favorite, quilting! Bluprint offers three different plans that will give you 15% off fabric and supplies (all levels of subscriptions), access to online classes, projects, free shipping and even project boxes delivered to your door. Of course, this all depends on the subscription you pick. Bluprint also sells quilting notions & supplies; like thread, rulers, patterns, and fabric. I am so honored to be working with them again. My first project with Bluprint is the Desert Blooms quilt.

Busy Bees Quilt featuring Boundless Fractals fabrics from BluPrint

The Quilt

The journey of this pattern started more than a year ago with Bluprint, but before that I had been tinkering with it for more than a year as well. Fun fact: It actually started as an EPPed motif. I couldn’t be happier with how the quilt has developed and where Busy Bees quilt is today. This quilt features their Boundless fabric line called Fractals. I just love these modern fabrics. It has so much depth in its prints and designs. In the collection, you will find arrow tips, something that looks like a circuit board, fractal roses and more.

My favorite print is Radial Charcoal; a black fabric used in the bee block, one of two blocks in the quilt. The other block is a hexi flower block. It is an updated take on tried and true English Paper Pieced Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt. However, in this quilt there are no y-seams and no hand stitching, making it a fun and easy project. The colors in the quilt are a variety of hues made up of blues and yellows. Colors that complement each other wonderfully. They make the quilt perfect for a girl, a boy, or me.
