Today I am drinking hot chocolate, playing holiday music, and lighting the fireplace. Why, you may ask? Because I am celebrating Christmas in July. That’s right. Today, we are blog hopping around the world with Father Time; or was it the Ghost of Christmas Present? I forget. Anyhow, I am part of a blog hop. This generous group of ladies have put together all sorts of different Christmas projects or projects perfect for gifts, so you can get inspired and start your Christmas gift making today. The project I created for you is a throw size Confetti quilt.
This Confetti quilt is crazy, fast, and fun to make. The thing I love the most about quilting is the hunt for new fabric. I love all the quirky things designers add to their line to make it special. That is why I love working with big blocks. I want to really see the fabric. This quilt allows you to do just that. The smallest component of the quilt is a 5″ square. It is perfect for a layer cake but if you want to use fat quarters or even yardage, I give you instructions for that as well.
I used two Jr layer cakes for my quilt. Both of them are designed by Ruby Star Society for Moda. One is Pop by Rashida Coleman-Hale (and I added a little bit of Stellar too) and the other is Clementine by Melody Miller. Don’t you think they look lovely together? Let me just say that this quilt was claimed before it was put together. LOL.
The Confetti quilt is made up of four components: two strips and two squares.
Download your Confetti Quilt Pattern
Click here to get your free (downloadable) pdf pattern. A full layer cake is perfect for this quilt and if you are new to quilting and don’t know that that means, it is a stack of forty 10″ squares. They give you the perfect variety for a project because each fabric is only duplicated once or in some cases twice.
Because I love doing giveaways and I love the fabrics that Rashida designs, I am doing another giveaway with this pattern release. I have a Stellar Jr Layer Cake and a yard of a white Speckled fabric plus a fat quarter of the purple Speckled fabric that I used in this quilt. To enter, tell me what fabric and or fabric line is your favorite from Rashida Coleman-Hale. If you need some help remembering her lines, you can find them in her Instagram feed or blog. While you are there, give her some love with some comments! I will announce the winner on this post in two weeks (July 28th). Although I love so many of her designs, my absolute favorite was part of a Halloween line; you know, that one where there are spiders, roses, and potions. That quilt lives on my bed and I see it every day.
So let’s get hopping!

I couldn’t get your free confetti pattern unless I enter ALL payment info. Email I understand, all else unnecessary.
Elisabeth DeMoo
> CarolI just updated the link so it now goes directly to the pattern. In the past I offered my free patterns on Craftsy and I was able to track the downloads and with the info they provided was able to email the downloader asking if they wanted to subscribe to my list. They are no longer in business so last month I tried out SquareSpace. I think I am going to have to keep looking for a solution. Thank you for your feedback.
