A Spooky, Sweet Adventure with the Fat Quarter Shop Mystery Quilt Along! 🎃🧵
I had so much fun joining the Fat Quarter Shop and their Spooky & Sweet Mystery Quilt Along! This was my first time diving into a mystery quilt project, and wow, what a treat! What’s better than a quilt that has a Witch and Dracula theme? Ghosts dressed up as a Witch and Dracula! Halloween quilting is always my go-to, so when this came along, I knew I was all in.
The Fat Quarter Shop quilt along offered two sizes—a Door Banner (17.5″ x 65.5″) and a Wallhanging (30.5″ x 34.5″)—both just perfect for Halloween vibes. Thank you to the Fat Quarter Shop for sprinkling in mystery, fun, and a dash of suspense to this holiday project!
I used Ruby Star Society’s Good Spirits fabric, my official spooky-season crush for 2025. The skulls and flower print stole my heart! I also love the lady monster mash! There are so many cute fabrics in this line!! It’s actually not the only time I sewed with these prints. I used them in my sugar skull block as well. Click here for that pattern.
Quilting Spider Webbs
For a little extra flair, I quilted my Door Banner with spider webs and added a couple of spiders hanging around. (I first tried webbs on my Gone Batty Quilt, and let’s just say I’m getting the hang of it!) You can catch how I did it in my latest YouTube video, where I break down how I quilted them.
Making Fussy Cut Binding
And, for the first time, I fussy cut the a print for the binding. I used my favorite fabric the skulls-and-flowers print. Love how it turned out, and I can’t wait to use this technique more.
Wishing you a fabulous Halloween full of quilts, treats, and maybe a few tricks!
Cheers and happy quilting!
Want to here the funny thing?? The back of the door banner has the perfect fussy cut binding!! Full skull and flowers all the way around. LOL!
