Wow!! I can’t believe this is the fourth year of my challenge, the Giving Challenge #4, the project that I do every November. As I reflect back on this year, I realize that it’s been a crazy one. 2015 has been filled with a family vacation, selling of a home, searching for a new one to rent, moving states, and driving back and forth between New Mexico and Arizona (a lot, because I still work for the same company).
As I look back, I see how incredibly blessed I am. Blessed to have a wonderful family that’s given me strong values and beliefs, and a wonderful husband that loves and supports me even if I am a little crazy, and probably drive him nuts. Thank you for being there for me.
How am I doing?… “better than I deserve” (insert Dave Ramsey’s voice).
Giving Challenge #4
This month is the month that I take in all of my blessings and give back. How? you may ask..
- By giving away projects that I’ve created to organizations that work with families or children that need a little extra.
- Giving back to the quilting community. (I really like how the giveways went last year so I am bringing them back)
- And volunteering at local organizations. (still need to look for a place… maybe a food bank)
Winners are……
Allison CB – Gift #1
Wietske – Gift # 2
I will email you asking for you mailing address. Please respond.

Thank you for your inspiring post! It made me reflect on how abundant my life is and what I can give back. And thank you for your giving plans! I love the Fresh Cut line and would use the fabric in quilt for my granddaughter, who loves flowers.

Isn’t it a super feeling to give back to our community? That feeling alone just pushes me to do more. A few things I do to give back is donate my blood to the local blood bank…volunteer at church…I am on the board with my local choir and write grants, fund-raise and help with new members. You are incredible and I hope the year continues to be good to you!

A lovely thing to do! Being thankful is something we all forget to do at times. A reminder is always good.
Both of your giveaway prizes are equally lovely and I’d be happy to win either one.

I am always thankful for our blessings and so thankful for others in my life. Thanks for your generous giveaway.

I was just trying to organize my own giveaways (donations) to take to guild this week. I’m a newer member but try to participate in the community events/programs they sponsor.
Both of your giveaways are gorgeous but I probably lean a bit more towards the colours in the Kate Spain fabrics! Thanks for the chance to win.

Lovely post- so happy I found your blog. Your tutorials are so nice and detailed- already love the Bats quilt and the bunny Easter bag! I am hoping to increase my giving this year with more sewing items because I was just gifted a large part of my mother in law’s stash as well as a pile from my mother and my neighbor (my fabric dresser runneth over!). Thanks!

Very inspirational – giving back to the community and helping those in need. KUDOS!

I like the fresh cut and would use it in a quilt.

A giving challenge sounds like a great idea. I’ve given a lot of handmade gifts lately and it feels good although it’s just friends and not charity. I don’t know if the giveaway is open internationally but I just wanted to say I think your challenge is great.

I love this idea! I make lap quilts for our home church. I get donated tshirts from the congregation, and other friends. I then turn them into lap quilts for the for nursing home residents. They so appreciate them.
I would probably just use whatever I’ve won to make more lap quilts! It’d be nice to donate a quilt actually made out of regular cotton fabric. Thank you for the opportunity!

I love both gifts. I would add a contrasting solid and make my MIL a quilt for christmas. She would love these, too!

I am like you I love to make and give quilts to my community. What could be better then receiving a warm loving quilt. Years fly by when you are my age. All fabric is wonderful in my book.

I feel very blessed as well to have family who loves me. They are the greatest gifts. I’m happy to make them quilts and hope I’m able to for years to come.

This is such a generous gift to offer! I would use the fabric to make a quilt for my grandmother, I think she would love the fresh cut flower patterns.

I would love either giveaway set. I’m always looking for beautiful fabric to use to test my skills and then donate that finished product to a local nursing home or Project Linus.

Love giveaways! When I win something I am always reminded of those with less than I have….so the Food Bank gets a donation! Just sent a check in for their Thanksgiving drive – they really do so much!

we’re sitting here with no power now for 3 days after a huge storm. But I’m very thankful we are all safe. I can only knit right now next to a window during the day. I miss my sewing room! But this to shall pass.
