The Giving Quilt a Charity Quilt

The Giving Quilt a Charity Quilt

As I was shopping for my giveaway goodies in the Giving Challenge, I found a charm pack of Into The Woods by Vanessa Goertezen and decide it would make a wonderful charity quilt. Vanessa is an up and coming designer that recently released her first collection for Moda. I don’t think I have seen such a magical blend of colors since Neptune from Tula Pink. The mint green is my favorite color out of the four. The red takes me into the story of Goldie locks where I sewed and sewed until I made quilt that will fit a tiny little bed “just right”.

The Charity Quilt

I finished the main part of the quilt top in one weekend. It is such an easy make I didn’t use a pattern. By using one charm pack I only had to cut the white squares plus (all together) 7 extra red, mint, pink and brown squares since I was short. Luckily I had enough in my stash. The backing also came out of my stash.  I added the borders to the quilt top during the week. Quilted it all together in one day and bound it in an other day. I have a lot to learn when it comes to quilting and so much to improve on. I think I need to take a class or two on it. Hopefully with time I will get closer to perfecting it. If not, I will have to break down and use my sister’s long arm.

When I started this quilt I thought I would make it for a charity auction but nothing jumped out at me. My backup plan is to give it to a child in one of the local El Paso Hospitals. If you would like to learn more about other things I have done for the Giving Challenge click here.
