It’s a Pattern Release Party Day!! I am over the moon. The Double Pinwheel Quilt pattern is finally ready for release. My Quilt Diet sent me a message letting me know she received the top and bottom quilt safely. I can’t wait to see what she does with it. She is a gifted longarm quilter. As soon as I get it back from her, I will post a finished picture and reveal the back because I am keeping that side a secret for now.
I have been tinkering with this pattern for about a year now. My first version of the quilt was different. I call it my QuiltCon reject quilt. 🙁 Self explanatory. Now that I have released this pattern, I will be able to share that quilt.
Charleston Fabrics
But let’s stay focused. Back to the task at hand, the Double Pinwheel Quilt featuring Charleston fabrics provided by Art Gallery Fabrics. I am absolutely in love with this line. I don’t think I have had a fabric crush this hard since… well, since Neptune (which I am still happily hoarding). Who designed this lush and lovely fabric called Charleston? Amy Sinibaldi. She is a designer for Art Gallery Fabrics. I can’t wait to see what her future holds. I am sure it will be beautiful. My favorite print of this line would be what I call in my pattern P1 otherwise known as Garden of Dreams Rose. It makes my heart happy! The house print called The Row is insanely adorable. I think it would work great in a fussy cut project. It is so hard to pick a favorite because I have about five of them, like the pineapple, the umbrella and then there is Pavilion Teacup. I think I am in fabric heaven here!! All so perfect for this quilt.
The Double Pinwheel Quilt Pattern
You can break down the Double Pinwheel Quilt pattern into three repeating 20.5” blocks. I thought it was important to make sure that the quilt had blocks in it. I could have gone with strips instead, but an 80” strip could have caused stretching, and stretching is no fun. There are no special or expensive tools needed for this pattern. Just a chalk marking tool (I used a mechanical pencil instead), your rotary cutter, ruler and mat, plus some cardstock so you can create a template. And of course our best girl, our sewing machine.
I am so happy with how this pattern turned out. I think I am almost scared of releasing it. Afraid that I will not create something as good as this again. Like it’s my ace in the hole I am holding onto. But here goes nothing. A leap of faith. Now my husband said it looks kind of 3D, stating that some graphics are popping out at you. What do you think? Do you see that, too?
On to the next item on our party list. The pattern. Click here to download your copy of the Double Pinwheel Quilt. I would love to see what you make, so when you post on Instagram, use #thedoublepinwheelquilt so I can find it.

I adore this pattern! As soon as I saw it on IG, I fell in love! I’m in agreement with your hubby that it does give off a 3D effect with the fabrics you’ve chosen…of course, they are perfect! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for a very interesting pattern! I see familiar elements in it, but they don’t lead where I think they will. Quite a lovely puzzle!

> dezertsuzThank you! I think this quilt might be my favorite so far. One of my pattern testers did a totally different spin on it and it looks so good. I will be sharing their images soon.
