It’s Valentine’s Day!! The day of love, kindness and giving. A day of hope… with flowers and sweets. A day created to honor a saint. And here at Brown Bird Designs headquarters, a day of quilty fun. There are many things I would like to talk about today. I would like to share a few projects I created with my scrap fabrics from the Whole Lotta Love Quilt, share the hearts the pattern testers made, and giveaway some fun so one of you can make a heart block or two.
I fell in love with this line of fabric the moment I saw it. It is modern, fresh and fun. It holds endless possibilities. I made four projects with Letters and I feel like I only scratched the surface. Letters by Art Gallery Fabrics has totally unleashed my creativity. I hope that by seeing these projects some ideas will spark within you, too. One of my favorite prints is called All You Need is Love. I absolutely love the quotes on it. “All you need is love” and “Live Laugh Love”. Aren’t they awesome?? If you cut them out they can be focal points for just about anything like bags, quilt backs, pillows, mini quilts and even hodge podge. These are the items I made so let’s press on.
Valentine’s Day Projects
I finally made this shirt that I have wanted to make since QuiltCon last year. I used EPP templates to created it. If you need an in-depth EPP how to on EPP click here and refer to page three of the Whole Lotta Love Quilt Pattern.
Last month I had a call for pattern testers and I was so incredibly pleased with the responses. I wanted to give them all a shout out and show off what they created. Thank you so much for your help. I will have another pattern for you soon.
Joy Swanson – Joy turned her block into a chic pillow. The background fabric is super fun. It’s vintage which is a great contrast to the red flowery heart.
Nancy Woodworth – Nancy took the traditional color scheme of the day of love and gave it a nontraditional feel. She used black and white for her background fabric. The heart is made up of reds and pinks making the heart pop. Isn’t it eye-catching?
Kathy Harris – I love how simple and strong this heart is. The reds and whites are perfectly fun. I would love to see what this looks like as a quilt top.
Michelle McClure – Michelle scaled her heart down to make it smaller. It is rich with many different colors. I just love the way she hand stitched it. It is super cute!!
Now for the Giveaways!
It’s giveaway time! First up, I asked the quilters to use their extra blocks from the Rug Quilt Quilt-A-Long in a project. The winner of this bonus giveaway is cristinalovescrafts; she made a lovely pillow.
